Sample Itinerary
Day 1
You will be transported to the starting point of your hike where the trail winds through the northern edge of the Great Lakes Forest, within mixed maple and conifer woods. The terrain is hilly, with many rocky outcrops to view the landscape and the creeks that tumble through the area into the multitude of lakes found here. Ascend King Mountain in the Algoma Highland Conservation property, on your way to your first night in the wilderness hut. There, you will find all you need for your night's stay, including food and equipment. Your luggage and remaining supplies will be delivered to Norm’s Cabin, the following day's destination.
Day2 and 3
Your stay at Norm’s Cabin can range in length from one, two, or three nights. You can explore the area trails, swim in the lake, or just relax on the deck. Norm's Cabin is located in a secluded bay on Bone Lake in the Algoma Highlands region north of Sault Ste. Marie. It's remote location is ideal for those looking for a place to get away from it all.
Day 4 and 5
You’ll head back to the warming hut to explore in another direction, possibly to see a large beaver dam. Your final day's hike will take you to Robertson Cliffs which overlooks the Goulais River valley. Once you reach the Robertson Cliff Trailhead, your transportation will take to your optional stay at a local lodge or B&B, or take you back to your arrival point.
This route is self-guided and can range in length from three to eight nights.
